Well today was a fun day! Jenny had to take Indy and Karma in for their annual therapy dog veterinary exam. This isn’t your everyday exam. You are randomly assigned to a volunteer veterinarian who has been trained on the evaluation. They do a physical exam and throat culture and they do a bunch of things to ensure your dogs will not hurt a child. They pinch their toe to simulate being stepped on. The tug on their ears and tails, clench their skin, roughly pet them, throw a dog bowl on the ground to make a really loud sound, you get the picture. Ironically, the thing that many dogs struggle with is being hugged. Hugging is not a canine behavior, but my two LOVE that part of the exam 🙂
Anyway, it’s not a very fun exam. Indy and Karma don’t react to any of it, but still, I hate seeing them go through it. Karma slows down her tail wag, and Indy just gives the vet a very puzzled look. After the exam the vet usually makes up with them and shares some treats and we all leave as friends.
But today, we were in for an extra surprise. The vet tech that checked us in said they had a Vizsla cling hanging on their wall. Knowing that our photographer is often asked for her art, I asked if I could see it — sure enough, their 6 foot cling was Halo! Halo can jump straight up in the air to catch toys which makes for a fun photoshoot — the picture they selected has her jumping up in the air to snatch a toy. So super cool!
