The last three days have been filled with a LOT of showing! Wednesday was the Sweepstakes events for both puppies and Veterans — so both Halo and Indy were in the ring. Halo made the cut in the huge 6-9 month puppy class, and her girlfriend, Piper won the class! Yay 🙂 Halo’s littermate Dempsey ALSO won his 6-9 month puppy class, so we were rooting hard for both of them in the Best of Sweeps cut. Best of Sweeps actually went to a cousin of Halo’s (out of Kizmar stuff) from Japan! It was a pretty cool story…they shipped the frozen semen to Japan, the vet said their girl wasn’t pregnant, but surprise! They got two puppies! The couple flew over from Japan with their handler and they were so gracious with their HUGE win. It was really cool. They came to all the events all week — even agility where they purchased one of the t-shirts Jenny had made. Pretty cool that the 2013 Vizsla Agility shirt will be making an appearance in Japan! 🙂 Indy looked great in Veteran sweeps, but might need a little bit more grey to be a contender 😉 We joked that we should have dusted him with flour before he went in the ring. All kidding aside, we LOVE our boy and can’t believe he is almost 9! After sweeps was over, the class dogs showed, and Dempsey was in the ribbons AGAIN! Too cool — we are so happy to have been chosen to have a puppy out of this litter, they are all just beautiful 🙂
After all the showing, we had a brief break before the parades. Gunner was showcased in the Parade of Titleholders and Karma and Indy both circled the ring in the Therapy Dog parade. Indy was a gentleman in the ring, but Karma was super naughty…not sure if she hated that huge ribbon around her neck or she just wanted to pick up the pace, but about a quarter of the way around she started jumping and play squeaking. The crowd loved it — she is such a ham 🙂 After the parades, we had a girls night at a local greek restaurant and then tried to get to bed at a decent hour.
Marc was scheduled to fly in town with Pat and Karma’s brother Zeke Wednesday night, but a huge winter storm prevented their departure. Pat was watching the radar Thursday morning and found the opportunity to make a safe flight. This was great — Zeke was making his debut in the All-Star review and we would have been so sad if he had to miss it! Thursday afternoon was the Stud Dog/Brood Bitch showcase which is one of our favorite things to watch. This year was especially exciting since our Kizmar & Pagliacci family won 1st in both! Cupid and his get won Stud Dog and Wick and her pups won Brood Bitch! Pretty cool.
The All-Star Review is our favorite event, and this year was even better because we had both Indy and Zeke to cheer for. Marc showed Indy and several people told Jenny it was pretty obvious that Marc and Indy are best friends 🙂 Indy LOVES showing for his Daddy! Zeke looked awesome too and we heard some very nice comments about his “husband” potential. Eeek! Zeke has his first litter due in a week or so, and perhaps there will be another litter on the horizon?
This morning came faster than we thought…Nationals week definitely FLEW by! Indy was first up in Veteran class. The judge told her that Indy had the cutest face — that cowlick gets ‘em every time! 🙂 Next up was Karma and she was actually well behaved, we were a little worried after the Therapy Dog parade! The only problem was that she was right behind her “Auntie” Eva and she kept trying to squish her face and get treats from Eva. Too funny.
Best of breed this year went to Mason — Karma’s friend who went BIS the day Karma finished her Championship! And Best of Opposite went to Wick! It was a really cool finale 🙂
After breed, we hit the road and made it to Omaha for the night. The last stop on our 10 day trip of Vizsla Antics is agility tomorrow!
