Back in May, Marc, Jenny, and Karma went to Minnesota for the Twin Cities Vizsla Club Specialty show. When Jill (Cruiser Vizslas) asked us to come out for the TCVC’s 30 anniversary specialty in August, we couldn’t refuse! It was QUITE the car ride. Actually, besides the flat tire outside of Ogallala, Nebraska, the trip went very smoothly. We stopped in Des Moines on Thursday night, and then pulled into the St. Croix fairgrounds a few hours before Sweepstakes on Friday.
Friday was a very fun day. Karma showed in Sweepstakes and picked up second in her class to Breeder/Judge Kathy Rust (Kizmar Vizslas) and her pretty girl. Incidentally, Kathy and her girl went Best of Opposite in Sweeps too! For the Specialty, our good friend Eva went on Karma and also placed behind the Kizmar girl. After the very exciting afternoon, we stayed for the 30th anniversary dinner and celebration, and what a celebration the TCVC had! They had a historical display with pictures, old trophies, and memoirs. There was a huge raffle, in which Marc won an awesome travel food and water duffle, and then the evening culminated with a very exciting live auction! Karma’s “Aunt Eva” organized the super yummy Bar-B-Que dinner and Jill (as TCVC President) held a quick meeting. We did also win the award for “Longest Distance Traveled” to the show — 926.2 miles if you are wondering 🙂 Our prize was three sets of TCVC Rescue stationary. Each card features a different Rescue V, and they are beautiful!
Saturday, the V’s showed early, and Eva and Karma were up first. Karmie went 2nd in her class again, and this time the girl who beat her went WB and BOW! When Kathy and her girl went WB, Eva had to leave to go show Bandit (her Happy Pappy!), so Jenny took in Karm for RWB! That was entertaining! With the showing out of the way, it was time for visiting with Kizmar puppies, where we got some major puppy cuddle time in! Then we headed over to Jill and Eva/Kevin’s campground for dinner and laughs.
Sunday was an early morning as we had to pack up the car so we could leave right after the V’s showed. Today, Karma and Eva won the 12-18 month class! Then, in they went for WB, and Judge Norman Patton kept looking back and forth between Karma and the girl from the Open class. Back and forth. Back and forth. In the end, he gave the Open girl the major, and our little Karmalita went RWB to the major! Pretty exciting!
Then we hugged Jill, Eva, and Kevin goodbye and loaded up for the 14 hour drive home! We can’t wait for next weekend in Cheyenne to see Eva again, and then it’s only four weeks to Nationals where we will get to see our Cruiser family again!
