Now that we have four dogs — we are getting creative with their puppysitting arrangements when we travel. We were headed to Texas to visit family this weekend, and finding homes for our kids actually ended up being easier than we thought. But with Karma we had to get a little creative — and it ended up paying off!
Zach and Clare love taking Karma (they have her brother Gauge) so much that sometimes they just borrow her for a day even when we aren’t traveling. However, they had their own wedding shower this weekend, so their guest rooms were full of family. Hmm. Our friend Darci, who we most recently road-tripped with in September, loves Karma and is someone we trust immensely with our dogs. Darci was going out of town too — BUT she was headed to a dog show and offered to take Karma on the road with her. And since she was going to a dog show, we might as well enter her, right? We really hadn’t/aren’t planning to put a Grand Champion title on Karma, but it might just happen despite our best efforts to avoid it…
We got a text from Darci yesterday saying “BOS!!!” Simple, and to the point. Our little Karma went Best of Opposite with her handler Trent Wilkinson! A huge thank you to Judge Rita Bell for honoring our Karmie-Karms. It seemed like a decent entry — 13 Vizslas total, 3 class dogs, 3 class girls, 4 male specials, and 3 female specials. But in Arizona it takes 6 girls to get 2 points, but we’ll take it! She also got another win over a champion to bring her closer to that GCH requirement (you need 3 separate wins over champs for your GCH.)
Karma probably will not get back home until Tuesday, but we know she is having a great time with her buddy Cayman and her Aunt Darci. And it is GREAT to be home and all cuddled up with the rest of the pack.
