Whew. Today was Rally and Obedience and Karma was entered in 6 events!! It was a very busy day managing conflicts and ring times, but we made it! Karma picked up another Rally Advanced Excellent leg, meaning she got a rally Double Q qualifying in BOTH events! Rally is not Karma’s favorite sport (she thinks there are way too many downs) so we are ecstatic that she pulled through.
In obedience, we were eliminated early in preferred novice for a double command, and our free heel was lack-luster in novice preventing us from advancing to the sit stays. However, Karma had a brilliant Beginner Novice run and finished her BN title! Love finishing a title at Nationals! We topped off the day competing in the first VCA National team obedience event. We were paired with Gunner & Heather, Ginger & Aja, and Jessica & Csillan! Since it was Gunner and the veteran ladies we called ourselves Gunner and the Cougars and dressed up in leopard and red lipstick. It was pretty hysterical. The whole room was roaring, especially with Karma’s antics in the obedience ring. At one point, we were all healing in a line and Karma had enough! She turned 180 degrees and high tailed it for the exit — LOL! We walked with 2nd place in the team event and enjoyed every hysterical moment.
After updating the Iron Dog scores and prepping the ribbons for tomorrow, we headed off campus to have dinner at Jake’s Del Mar. Nothing like fresh halibut with the waves beating the shore line as mood music. Here’s to the 2017 companion events!
