This weekend was Longs Peak’s agility trial. We always help out on the committee for this event and this year was no different. However, due to Covid restrictions, we had to split dogs by sizes and run two trials per day. Luckily, Karma and Cheeky were on different days, so it wasn’t total brain damage trying to volunteer and run dogs!
Cheeky made great strides and had some moments of brilliance. We are so close to qualifying in jumpers and standard! Little things here and there, but since Cheeky hasn’t been in a class since Covid started, we are so impressed with her. Karma was her usual awesome self. Nothing like getting to step to the line with her — she knows Jenny’s every move and it’s like stepping into a comfortable set of shoes. She’s brilliant.
Since Cheeky and Karma were on different days, Marc drove up to Loveland to swap out the girls on Saturday night. We took advantage of the opportunity and went to one of our favorite local restaurants with our agility gang. It was great to be able to socialize together over dinner again! Things are starting to feel normal again, even if we spent all day enforcing Covid restrictions at the trial.
But the STAR of this weekend was Maggie! Catherine is doing a phenomenal job with her and we are so impressed with their teamwork. Not only did she finish both of Maggie’s Novice titles, Novice Jumpers and Novice Standard, but she also managed to pick up Maggie’s first Open Jumpers leg as a move up! It’s a pretty large leap from Novice to Jumpers, so to nail a qualify on the first attempt is an impressive feat!
