Happy Memorial Day! We spent this Memorial Day just like we have the last few years, being all day volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Vizsla Club and Cairn Terrier Club of Denver agility trials. This is one of our favorite trials, because we usually get a couple out of state Vizsla teams. This year, our friends Laudi & Dulce came up — we have been able to see them a lot this Spring — back when Karma finished her MXB in Albuquerque, and at the AKC NAC, and it’s been great to see them progressing. They are working on a running dog walk, and man, it is going to be unbeatable when it all comes together! Local friends who don’t trial that often also made it out, so we got to see Ginger/Aja, Krista/Roka & Yeti, Suzanne/Stella, and Heather/Gunner, which made it an EXTRA special weekend 🙂
Karma was able to pick up 39 MACH points over the weekend with her Jumpers runs, little things here and there in Standard to prevent QQs, but we are still flying pretty high from our weekend a few weeks ago. AND Bad Dog Agility posted their Q1 Rankings and Karma is listed as the #2 dog in the 20” Master class! This ranking is all about being fast…we are thrilled!
We also had the run that everyone left the trial talking about — Jenny was doing a front cross (or as the locals refer to it — the “fancy dancey” because Jenny does a bunch of backwards running before completing the cross) and tripped over a cone, causing a reverse somersault. We were clean, and Karma started to come towards Jenny to check on her, but Jenny threw out her arm, Karma directed back to the course and completed the last jump clean. It was a crowd pleaser. The crowd roared, the judge came over for a hug, and the videographer had the blooper running on a loop at his stand. Too much fun — can’t wait for next year!
