Today was Sweepstakes day and since it started with Puppy Sweeps, we had time to explore around Asheville a bit. Jenny, Heather, and Ginger hit up Tupelo Honey. It was SO good. Does it really get any better than homemade biscuits and jam? After breakfast, we walked around downtown and did some shopping.
Then it was back to the show site where Karma had a few more tricks up her sleeve! We come to Nationals for the fun and camaraderie — winning at this very large venue is NEVER an expectation. Just getting placements is very exciting. For Karma, she is our athlete so we have our biggest expectations for the Companion Events — agility, rally, and obedience.
But this year, Karma decided she is a show girl. She WON the 8-10 Veteran Bitch Sweepstakes class!! This was an enormous class and Jenny was in tears when Judge Ida Kavafian pointed to Karma & her co-owner/handler Tad for 1st place! This is our very first 1st place ribbon at a National! It was very, very exciting!
After Karma’s big win we went to dinner with Sarah, Tad, and Rich in downtown Asheville. Wine was definitely on Jenny after our big day! Tonight we visited Posana’s and highly recommend it!
After dinner, we decided to extend the party. Sarah said we HAD to go to the Grove Park Inn for a cocktail and to take in the amazing view from the hotel. If you are in Asheville, we agree that it is totally a stop you need to make! Tons of history on how it was built, and Sarah didn’t lie, the view was AMAZING!
