Well, our little Karma is all grown up now. This was THE weekend we’ve been waiting for, as our girl finished her AX title to make her an official Master dog! (If you don’t know what that means, click here to learn more about agility.) But we should start at the beginning.
After working late at Children’s with Indy last night, we were lucky to have late-ish runs on Saturday. So we rolled into Longmont around 9:30, yay! We actually missed our friend Darci’s run with her Pharaoh Kaba, but they Q’d in their Excellent class! Then Darci caught Jenny up on the latest drama in the Pharaoh Hound rescue world as she was headed out to Omaha to pick up an eight year old. Since we just fostered Brandi, it was a story close to our hearts — just hate hearing about the “old ones” getting surrendered. But he is a lucky boy to have Darci around…we think she will have him placed in no time! Karma didn’t Q in STD, she did her latest I’m-going-to-bounce-off-the-table move. Back in Casper, she came screaming out of a tunnel and slid off the back of the table, so it seems now she is treating them like trampolines. A little something to work on. She did, however, Q in Jumpers to pick up her 6th MXJ leg! Our friends Dale and Chili picked up a Double Q towards their MACH4 and our trainer Sarah picked up a QQ to qualify for Nationals! Needless to say, it was a very exciting day.
But nothing could top our Sunday (at least for us.) The day started out with a visit from Pat, Jacqueline, Zeke and Newt. We were able to visit for a bit before we ran, but unfortunately, Karma didn’t get a Q in Jumpers while they were watching. Pat was amazed at how vocal Karma gets when she does agility — he had never heard her bark before 🙂 It was so nice to have our Vizsla family there to support, cheer us on and give us big hugs…too bad more trials aren’t in Longmont!
Several hours later we FINALLY went in the ring for Standard. The course didn’t seem too bad, but it kinda ate people up. There were three big areas for off-courses and a lot of the dogs fell prey to the traps. Karma was very close to missing the last tunnel and just taking the tire at the end herself, but Jenny was able to call her off and get her in the tunnel to get the Q! That was the 3rd and final AX leg we needed to move up to the Master class and Jenny was ecstatic!! If you watch the videos, look for her celebration hop at the end 🙂
