We had a blast this weekend — agility is definitely too much fun! This was the first weekend that Heather & Gunner would be competing as well, so it was a weekend we’ve been looking forward too for a very long time.
Over the weekend, Karma was entered in three standard runs and two jumpers with weaves runs (she picked up a JWW leg at CKC and only needed two more to finish.) Gunner, who is about a 9 months behind Karma in terms of training, was ready to try for three jumpers runs.
What’s the difference between standard and jumpers? Standard is the run where you see all the obstacles: teeter, A-frame, table, weaves, chute, etc. Jumpers has jumps (duh), weaves, and then sometimes it has an extra obstacle like a tunnel.
We are proud to report that Gunner qualified in 2 out of his 3 runs and Karma qualified in 4 out of her 5! Gunner’s two qualifies is an amazing feat for his (and Heather’s) first trial. This leaves him one leg shy of his NAJ title! **Seriously amazing**, but then again, Heather is a great competitor. She doesn’t get nervous, just gets in the zone and goes out and gets it done!
With Karma’s 4 qualifies she actually had a few cool firsts this weekend–
-Her first agility title!! She finished her NAJ, making her new registered name: Diamond Cruiser 5280’s Reap What You Sow RN JH NAJ CA CGC.
-Her title/points pushed her Sire, Tok, over the top to make him a new Registry of Merit
-On Saturday, her Jumpers with Weaves run was completed in 24.41 seconds — not only winning her Novice A 20” class, but it was also the fastest time in the *Entire* Novice division!
-Her first Double Q! She qualified in both her Standard and Jumpers class on Saturday! QQ’s aren’t officially recorded until you are in the Excellent B class, but it was still super exciting.
