Eight years old. It’s so hard to believe that he is already that old! Especially on days when we slack on his exercise and he acts like a complete nut job 🙂 Age definitely doesn’t equal reduced energy level with a Vizsla!
Marc is off on Thursdays so Indy was able to spend the entire day with his favorite person in the world. Besides going for a long off-leash run and a bunch of bunny chasing, Marc took Indy to our favorite dog store (Chewy’s Bonetique) and let him pick out whatever he wanted — Jenny came home to discover that Indy definitely got her shopping genes! 😉
Let’s just say we are very well stocked. Marc’s excuse? “He was so cute in the store finding all his favorite things!” That’s our little hunter…no treat was left unturned!
Another milestone birthday and we are so thankful every day for our old man. Indy cracks us up with his little nuances as he has aged. He now typically puts himself to bed around 7:30pm. And by “put himself to bed” we mean that he goes into the bedroom and roo-roos at the top of his lungs until we go in and lift up the covers. Then he jumps in between the sheets and spirals into a ball with an old man sigh. He also wakes up at 5:00 am, ready to eat. If he feels like Marc should feed him, he heads over to his side of the bed and licks his face until he wakes up. If he thinks Jenny should get up, he goes to her side of the bed, sits 3 inches away from her face, and starts barking and singing. (Bet you can figure out who is a sounder sleeper.)
He makes the funniest noises. Groans of pleasure when you scratch his behind and grunts of discontent when Karma steals his toys. He has also really started to like taking a bath. He will just go into the bathroom and jump into the tub. He sighs happily as he gets massaged with shampoo and conditioner, but the best part is drying him off. He spins around inside the towel trying to rub and roll all over it. We can hardly help dry him off because it makes us laugh so hard.
We are also starting to see a bunch of grey hairs making the way into his red coat. His chin started greying about a year ago, but in the last three months it has really start to spread onto his muzzle. We also just started to notice a few stragglers along his back and starting to creep up his feet. He is so handsome and starting to look so distinguished.
Our sweet, sweet boy, we love you to the moon and back!
