Yahoo! Karma is a Junior Hunter!!
Karma earned her first 3 legs at eight months with her co-owner Tad while Jenny and Marc were vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico. It was very cool to come home to our little bird dog, but then we went out to watch her that Sunday and she went bird-less. In her defense, the conditions were pretty bad, huge gusty winds, and her brace mate was a field trial dog who ran straight to the birdfield and busted 6 birds, which was likely all that was planted. Oh well, there would be the fall hunt test season to look forward to.
Our local Vizsla club, the Vizsla Club of Colorado, held a double-double hunt test with the Mile High Weimaraner Club. This would provide four opportunities to pass in two days! Tad was judging on Saturday, and Karma can’t run under him, so we put all our money on Sunday and crossed our fingers!
First, Karma ran under judges Tim Bintner & Tim Gonzales. We had decided to let Marc try out handling, so he led Karmie into the bird field. Karma had a beautiful point and Marc stumbled with the gun a little bit, fired and called Karma off the bird. It was good enough for a pass and made Karma a JUNIOR HUNTER!!
We decided to stay for the afternoon test to let Karma get in some more bird time. And she and Marc did it again! This time she was under judgement from Frank Lallas and David Towner. Karmie had several points, even a very exciting covey! She and Marc had a ball, and they earned another qualify! 5 legs in 3 tests, not too shabby!
Today was a great day…
