One of the reasons we headed out early was so we could partake in the South Coast Vizsla Club’s Supported entry and Specialty Show today. Karma’s day kicked off early with obedience. It was an outdoor ring, so her heeling wasn’t spectacular — ha! We never have obedience outdoors on grass in Colorado, so this was a nice challenge and we know what we need to train for!
After that, we headed over to the supported entry, which was just wrapping up Best of Breed. Tad had one the Veteran class with Karma’s Dad, Tok, but also had her half-brother Kai to show as a special. Since we were done with obedience, Tad asked Ginger to take Tok back in for him. Because this is a specialty right before the National, there was an enormous entry, so the judge did several rounds of cuts and Kai and Tok were both still in it. The judge went straight over to Kai and pulled him out. Then she went and found a bitch and put her behind him. Woo-hoo, it looked like Kai was going to win. But then she went and pulled another bitch special out in front of Kai, then best of winners in front of her. Then the judge went and got Ginger from the back of the line and put Tok at the very front! That was it!! Tokaroo Best of Breed and Kai Select Dog to his Daddy! Fun for Jamie too since Tok was in the first litter she ever bred.
After the supported entry came the Specialty show. Karma didn’t win anything in her Sweeps or Regular class, but her nephew Rudy (out of Zeke x Jasmine) went Best of Opposite! Then Jamie’s Chance (Karma’s cousin) got an Award of Merit as did Ginger and Aja!
Then it was off to cheer on Tokaroo in the group ring and man did he eat it up! Nothing like watching Tok move and free stack and he had a good group of Vizsla fans cheering him on. With smiles on our faces, we tore down camp and headed back to Jamie’s to back up for Del Mar.
Looking forward to a fun week ahead!
