Well, this weekend didn’t go exactly as planned, but we still had an absolute ball. Jenny’s Mom (Grandma Carol to the pups) begged Jenny to enter the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club show in Lubbock, Texas, this weekend. She would be entering Mungo in Rally and Conformation and really wanted Jenny to be there too. Since Karma has had so much attention in the agility ring, we decided we would enter Indy this weekend. Jenny found out her friend Darci was going, and since the last roadtrip was such a blast, this weekend was very highly anticipated.
Unfortunately, Mungo was the only Border Terrier entered, so Grandma Carol decided not to come…such a bummer! But we can’t blame her, either. Not wanting to back out on Darci (we had agreed to split a room and gas) we decided to go ahead as planned and still show Indy.
And man, are we glad we did! Karma’s handler Trent was there and offered to take Indy around the ring — and any excuse for Jenny not to walk in the ring she will take! Indy and Trent looked great together! Trent even commented that he thinks Indy is a contender! He is great in the ring, moves beautifully, and as we all know, he has a head that judges just fall in love with.
Indy ended up talking Select Dog honors all weekend (Breed went to the #1 Vizsla, Mason — who coincidently went BIS at our last roadtrip with Darci.) Thank you to judges Robert L Boothe, Sheila Smith, and Nancy D Simmons for finding our Indy. On Sunday there was an extra Exhibition for the Veterans. Indy went Best Veteran Vizsla to qualify him for the Veteran Sporting group — which he won! We ended up the day cheering Indy on in the Veteran Best in Show competition. The judge was very complimentary of the entire group, saying that they were all excellent examples of their individual groups. Makes our hearts so happy!
We should also mention it was a good weekend for Darci and Cayman too. Trent handled Caymie to a Hound Group 3 — the same day the first place hound wend Best in Show. He was definitely in good company!
Below is a picture of Indy with his loot from the weekend — and we should mention that he picked up 3 Grand Champion points too!
