Karma, Geli, Tok, and Gauge
Karma’s Grandma Geli is town as she will be showing at some upcoming specialty shows. We couldn’t just let the Grande Dam come out without taking advantage of the photo opportunity. Some of Karma’s Colorado Vizsla puppy siblings and our friend Ken Hunter, and his V, Lexi made the trek out as well. It was quite the crew! We let the dogs burn off some steam and then put them back in the cars to work them individually or in pairs.
After working our bird dogs, we headed over to Cosentino’s in Elizabeth for lunch. At lunch, Marc got a call asking if we could take Garrett for a night! Garrett was the Vizsla we fostered at the end of last year. We returned him to Vizsla Rescue in January as he needed to have surgery. With his surgery over and his rehab complete, Garrett came back to Colorado to prepare for adoption. Luckily for us, they couldn’t get Gare-Gare all the way to Colorado Springs from Kansas, so we get to keep him for the day! When we showed up to pick up Garrett, we noticed he has packed on some pounds – guess that is what 8 weeks of restricted exercise will do to a V! There was something else different too, Garrett got his tail docked! When we had Gare, he’d split open his happy tail, and blood would go splattering all over our house! We were very glad to see that his tail was docked when they did his osteotomy — now he can waggle all he wants without worrying about injury!
Jenny will take him down to the Springs tomorrow evening, but for now, he is ours! Gare got a good brushing, a much needed pedicure, and a bath. After his bath, he curled up in a dog bed with a rawhide –it is like he never left!
