Well, today was the day Marc and Jenny were dreading — the day Garrett would go back to Vizsla Rescue. It was very bittersweet. We were grateful he would be getting the surgery he needs to have a healthy pain-free life. Plus, this last step is all that is holding him back from being adopted by his forever home. However, saying goodbye to such a sweet boy was very difficult, and more than a few tears were shed.
Garrett will be having an osteotomy on his left leg. This procedure should allow him to fully recover with a little rehab. His rehab requirements are the big reason why we couldn’t keep him until he is adopted out. After surgery, Garrett will need to be let out about every 30 minutes!! Since we have full time jobs, there was just no way we could provide Gare-Gare with the care he needed. However, our local Vizsla Rescue (CWVRG) is full of wonderful people, and after surgery, Garrett will be in a great home to rehab in and bounce back.
We are betting he will go straight from his rehab home to a new family, but we have already requested to get him back if he needs to go back into foster care. We just LOVE that boy!!
Think of Gare over the next few days, he should be headed into surgery anytime and your positive thoughts would be appreciated!
