We made it through the weekend! This was a crazy, busy weekend, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
The weekend started out with agility, where our little rockstar, Karmie Karm, picked up her first AX leg! The course was super, super hard, but we did it! She was painfully close in her jumpers run, but Jenny accidently pulled her off the second to last jump — otherwise, it was a flawless performance. Karma is getting really close to being in Excellent B, so better to work out the kinks now. She needs two more AX legs and just one more AXJ leg, so there is a possibility of two new titles next weekend!
After agility things got a little hairy. Jenny had 30 minutes to get showered and dressed and out the door for our friends wedding. We left with two minutes to spare and Jenny resorted to painting toe nails and putting on make-up in the car. No biggie. But then we hit traffic — the going 10mph on I-70 kinda traffic. It was terrible. Luckily, we made it to the church in time for scripture, songs, vows, first kiss — all the important stuff! Then it was off to the reception right on Grand Lake. The evening was wonderful and absolutely perfectly planned to last details — congratulations to Anne & Adam!
We had to hit the road after the cake was cut to get back home at a decent hour. The poor pups had been alone for nine hours! However, they were perfectly happy when we walked in, basking in the glory of their new air conditioner! Yep, we broke down and finally installed A/C. Marc has lived in this house for eight years, but this summer our swamp coolers just couldn’t keep up with the multiple 100+ temps we had in June. The poor dogs have looked pretty miserable in the house — even with the shades drawn, it was heating up to 80 degrees during the day. So, we bit the bullet and had them come out and install the A/C yesterday. Just a tip — anytime we have anyone working in our yard, we always make sure to close off access for the dogs to the yard. Not everyone is as careful as pet owners about double checking that gates are closed behind them — just a reminder if you are doing any of your own home improvement this summer 🙂
To finish up our weekend, we took the pups out for a long run and swim today. We were also joined by Karma’s brother Gauge and his humans/our friends, Zach & Clare. The dogs ran hard and swam even harder, so they were nice and tired today while we worked on the house and yard a little bit. Now we just have to make it through 5 more days and then we can do agility again!
