Today was too much fun — and highly anticipated! For some reason, Jenny had it in her head that eight was a milestone birthday. She really wanted this one to be special, and she was a little bummed out that we aren’t best buddies with Indy’s littermates as we are with Karma’s. Wouldn’t it be cool for Indy to have an annual reunion with his siblings? And share stories about their personalities and find commonalities? Not to mention watch them chase and play as only Vizslas can?
Well, apparently Marc thought it was a good idea too. One of Indy’s siblings, Bella, had been to some fun bird days and training activities that Marc attended with Indy back in the day. He was pretty sure he had Rich’s (Bella’s Dad) contact info somewhere — and maybe, if the email was still the same, he could make contact. Luckily, Rich is one of those gems of a person that actually works for the same company for 16 years 🙂 The email address was the same, and after working around conflicts and heat cycles, we were able to settle on today for our big reunion!
It was well worth the wait! Bella is the prettiest girl (admittedly, we are probably just a smidgen biased!) She has a much different headpiece than Indy, but they had the same sweet eyes, perfectly velvety and long ears, and cute tails! We cracked up watching Rich scratch Bella’s hindquarters — she and Indy do the EXACT same butt wiggle/dance! And matching groans of enjoyment 🙂 We also discovered that Bella has the same sweet temperament and requires only gentle discipline just like Indy. She is also ALL about her Dad (just like Indy.)
We met up near Dacono and let the dogs run through wheat, cool off in the canal, and just generally burn off some steam. We pondered about whether or not Indy and Bella remember each other or can tell if they are related. We agreed that we’d all like to think so 🙂
Besides Bella and Indy, Rich brought their other dog Cooper and we had Karma and Schmav. It was quite the gang!
We are definitely hoping this turns into a regular occurrence. All the dogs got along great and our three were super chilled out the rest of the day. Chasing Bella through that wheat really wore them out! This fall we are thinking we’ll have to meet up, run dogs, and then catch a football game together — Jenny so rarely finds other Redskins fans and was so excited to see Bella and Cooper sporting their Skins collars! 🙂
