Marc’s family had a family reunion planned this weekend in Idaho Falls. Part of the weekend was a memorial service for his grandmother who just passed away a few months ago. How lucky for Marc to have his Grandma live through 42 years of his life! If we were only all so blessed.
Initially, we planned to bring the whole family on our trip, but because Karma is in heat, we had to find a babysitter for poor Indy. However, Indy loves his “Aunt Jan” and was more than happy to get to spend the weekend with her and all the treats she hands out 🙂
So, with Indy taken care of, the rest of us loaded up, we headed out on the 10 hour drive. If you haven’t ever driven through Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho, you are missing out! It was an absolutely gorgeous drive and Karma and Schmav managed to sleep through just about all of it!
Once in Idaho Falls, we were able to spend the whole weekend with family. Our favorite part was getting to watch Marc’s mom, Lennie, play the piano at the service. She played a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace,” that will stick with us forever. A VERY close second favorite part was getting to spend time with Marc’s family, especially his niece Olivia. She took right to Schmavitz and was very eager to help us walk him and Karma. Below are a few photos of our weekend. The hotel we stayed at was the Best Western – Driftwood. This is by FAR the nicest BW we have ever stayed at! We were in the “Jacuzzi Suite” which had a full kitchen, dining area, and a jacuzzi tub with separate shower. The shower had a couple nozzles, one of which was one of those rainstorm ones on the ceiling! Super cool, right? (You’ll have to understand that we have stayed in some really sketchy hotels purely based on letting other people chose our hotel locations on hunting trips. People with dogs who stay in their rooms have to learn to drop standards on hotels. A very hard lesson for some of us to accept!) The hotel was also RIGHT across the street from the Snake River and the Falls. There was a beautiful park along the river with walking paths and gardens. Too perfect!
