We had a free weekend and decided to stay down in Denver instead of heading up to Vail. And since we were down here, we thought we’d get our old man out on birds. Nothing like seeing his sweet face on point. He may be sneaking up on 14, but he still has such intensity on point. Here he is on point and then marking the shot.
Indy retrieving to Tad, one of his favorite people.
Halo was a machine. Solid honoring, beautiful retrieves, and that stunner of a point. Love this photo we got of her on point today (above) — you can tell she is pulling up all that bird scent and blowing it out her flews before she tips her head and locks in her point. I also love her correct tail on point. <3
Halo honoring, and then out for a retrieve.
We tortured Karma a little bit today — made her run with puppy, Gus. Gus is out of Kai, so it kinda makes him Karma’s nephew. Anyway, she was a good Aunt. He busted in on her points, released from honors while she retrieved, and was just in general a baby bird dog. She took it all in stride and was kind enough to honor his points and not steal them back to get even.
Karma honoring and then on point, below her nephew Gus celebrates her retrieve!
And if we ever get to breed Halo, we’ve already promised her she can be bred to Kai. She is in LOVE with him. We can be out hunting with 7 intact males and the only one she wants to have anything to do with is him. Flirts something crazy. Today she even took a route right by him on her retrieve to show him her bird — we call it “proofing an honor.”
