So proud of our girls this weekend, but especially, Baby Hay! Our little Ms. Perfect picked up the last two legs of her Senior Hunt Title yesterday, earning all 4 legs in succession, going 4 for 4! She also did that with her Junior Hunter title too! So 4/4 for JH and 4/4 for SH! She is our first Vizsla to accomplish such a feat and we are so proud of her 🙂
Yesterday, Karma could only run once because her co-owner Tad was judging the Master stake for one of the clubs. However, in her one stake she was able to run, she did awesome. She had 4 finds and a stop to flush — having Master level manners on that much bird contact is a bit stressful on the humans watching! And 3 of those finds were in the bird field, and she worked each of them beautifully. A Master leg in her Master debut!
But as mentioned, Halo was the star yesterday. She and Marc hit the field, and had 2 birds and a stop to flush in the morning test and 3 birds and a stop to flush in the afternoon! Both of our girls were bird finding machines! Halo was steady to shot on all 7 of her birds — a master level skill that we hadn’t fully proofed yet. Her bracemates were a bit naughty — one bracemate stole her retrieve and another honored her and then crashed in on her. To top it off the 3 birds in the afternoon evaded the expert marksmanship of the gunners. That is a LOT of impulse control for Baby Hay and Marc who is new to Senior handling. Finally, she had to retrieve an already dead bird — not her favorite! So, so proud of her! Halo was also the only Senior to pass in the am and one of two in the afternoon. Karmie was the only Master pass. Really proud of the girls’ performance yesterday!
Today was another great day. Karma didn’t pass, but was really close in the morning. A cluster of a situation during her call-back for honor ended up being too much pressure. Then after all her manners on her 5 birds yesterday, today she broke at the shot in the afternoon! It reminded us of her “start-line stay” in agility — love that monkey and her sometimes over-bearing enthusiasm! She was only out to train 3 times the Spring and hasn’t been on birds in over a month — so the one leg we picked up this weekend was not expected and so exciting!!
Halo was again, just awesome! She got around clean and found a bird in the crazy wind this morning. The gunner missed her bird, and since she passed yesterday, Marc opted not to waste everyone’s time with a call-back for her retrieve. The judge asked him several times if he was sure — he was just happy she did well and didn’t care about the bonus leg. The came out of that field with big smiles! In the afternoon, she was able to get all her skills done on course during the time-limit AND got another bonus SH leg. The best part? Marc ran her with “Master Level” handling abilities (much less talking, no collaring on her honor, etc) to try and gauge how ready she is to move to the next level. We are pretty proud of our baby girl — a perfect weekend for our Little Miss Perfect!
