We absolutely can not believe our Karma is 6 years old! She was the first dog we got together as a couple and raising her together has been the foundation of our relationship. Karma is the world’s easiest dog. She’s smart and funny, sweet and stubborn, but mostly just loves people with every ounce of her being. She’s the dog that everyone wants and we are SO lucky to call her ours. She has really come into her own as an agility dog this year, and has been consistently ranked in that venue. We’d like to wish the happiest of birthdays to her littermates Zeke and Hana too!
And while it was great to celebrate Karma’s big day, it was a pretty stressful day too. Let’s start by saying Indy is doing great! But today was pretty intense. We took Indy in to be neutered. He is 11, why now? Well, his prostate was getting pretty enlarged and he was having to pee all the time. He gets up about 6 times a night, and was starting to leak a little bit of urine every now and then while he was sleeping. On top of that, we hate sending him away when the girls come in. At some point, you realize that every day with your dog is a gift. For us it was when Indy turned 10, something about double digits. Anyway, sending him away for 3-4 weeks when you don’t know how many more weeks you get, is a hard pill to swallow.
We decided to have him neutered today. And while he was under, we also had his teeth cleaned, and two masses removed; one on his eyelid and one on his side. Indy made it through the procedures with flying colors, and was screaming and rooing at us to feed him dinner — I swear the worst part for him is having to fast before surgery! Now for the hard part of keeping him calm for about a week!
